Growing your social capital
I have found three different people
to talk about my ideas. The first person I came in contact with, was another
student from the University of Florida who falls in the market expert category.
After meeting with her, when she asked to interview me for one of her classes I
asked if she can talk to me about my ideas in return. I told her about my idea
and she had the same idea in mind. She would be considered an expert in this
industry because she understands the blue lights and why they are so important
to college students. She agrees that safety is important especially at night
and explained how she would love to help me with the app and work together. Second,
I spoke to an adult that started up his own company and also has children in
college, he is under the domain expert category. He explained that he would
love to help create this app because he worries about his kids every day and always
hears crazy stories about college students and would never want his kids to be
in that situation, that is why he thinks this app is different and would really
do well. I reached out to him with a phone call because I knew he started his
own business and how smart he is and the phone call went very well. When I scheduled
time to talk to him over the phone, he took time out of his busy work day and I
was so thankful for that. Third, I spoke to an old teacher of mine who would be
a market supplier, and he believed that if this app was created colleges all
over the country would be promoting this app and using it in order to protect
their students. I did not expect the feedback to be the same for all three
people. They were all interested in the app and thought it was a great idea. Talking
to these people made me realize that this is a great idea for an app and that
people across the country would be using it.
Hello Jordyn, great post. I thought this post was really interesting. I like what you were able to pull together considering that this would be a difficult opportunity to exploit as a business. Overall, however, I like your idea of creating an app that allows individuals to alert authorities by the push of a button. I actually read an article recently that stated that officials gave the go ahead to add more blue lights in specific areas around campus.

ReplyDeleteHey Jordyn,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading this blog post about growing your social media. It is interesting that you interviewed a girl who ended up having the same idea as you to create an app that will make people feel and be safe. I think that this is one of the best ideas that I have read. This idea for an app is necessary to ensure the safety of students. Overall, you did an awesome job on this blog post.
