Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

The problem I have picked is the lack of blue lights on emergency row. For this assignment, I have interviewed five different people. First, I interviewed a parent of a student who goes here. This mother seemed very concerned about this issue and agrees that this should be an issue that needs to be fixed right away. She went on to explain how she has always explained to her children to never ever walk alone especially late at night. She knows sometimes her son walks home late at night alone, and knowing he is walking to an area where in case of an emergency you can’t even get help scares her. My second interview was my roommate. After studying in the library late last night I asked her how she got home, she looked at me and said she walked like she always does. I explained to her the situation as well, and she knew exactly what I was talking about. She said one reason she only walks alone is because of the blue lights in the area of where she is walking. She expl...

Solving the Problem

After doing plenty of research on the lack of blue lights on Fraternity row, I decided to pursue my hypothesis on this topic along with a solution to the problem. As you have read in my previous blog posts: The University of Florida has blue emergency lights located in many locations all over campus, besides on Fraternity Row. I believe this is a popular area where many students live and are often walking alone. It is important that the University sees the issue. One way to solve this solution is by the protests that are occurring. There have been many protests on campus due to this issue. I believe another way to resolve this problem is by simply just adding blue emergency lights or even starting to get students to start signing petitions (for example in Turlington) to help add the lights to Fraternity Row. Also, there are many other campuses around the country that don’t have the blue emergency lights. I believe other Universities should be made aware of what these...

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

1.      The Opportunity I would like to pursue is the lack of Blue emergency lights on Fraternity row. 2.      Fraternity row, on the campus of University of Florida, are lacking the blue emergency lights which can save students from being put in a dangerous situation. ·       The Who: Students at the university of Florida. ·       The What: The danger of students walking alone with no source of emergency help. ·       The Why: Certain areas of campus are lacking the blue emergency lights which students need in case of emergency. 3.      If there were more emergency lights on Fraternity Row then more students would feel as if they were ever in a dangerous situation. ·       Testing the Who: I believe students from all different Universities have this need, especially the students here at the unive...
